Quilted shapes (Christopher Raeburn), autumnal tones (Nicole Farhi) and rich but muted reds (Acne) and greens (McQ) have littered the catwalk over the past few days, assuring us that AW12 is going to be a cosy one. What we haven’t seen much of is the type of all-out, bold colour that could lift a drizzly day in November. But you can always count on Holly Fulton for that. The Fashion East...

LFW day 5: Mary Katrantzou
Mary Katrantzou, London’s very own queen of prints was easily one of our fashion week highlights. Hosted at Old Billingsgate Market, the catwalk home of Topshop for whom she has just designed a third capsule collection, the show was initially tarred with a 9am start. Luckily the whiff of fresh coffee, miniature bacon sarnies and banana muffins on offer kept a smile on our faces. Alexa...

Matthew Williamson’s AW12 show was a glossy, glittery, gorgeous affair.  Having achieved the coup de theatre last season of a Turbine Hall show at the Tate (and infuriating every other major designer in the process) Williamson showcased a modern, metallic show in the beautiful glassy hall of the Royal Opera House. That rather set the tone- refined, but twinkly and a bit exciting. The show...

Jonathan Saunders. What a pro…. If it is was any other designer, the fact that his show opened as the sun was setting across a phenomenal London skyline as we watched from the millionth floor of the Broadgate Tower might have been a fortunate accident. Because it was Jonathan Saunders, we knew it was by design- such is the perfectionism of the nicest man in fash. The hallmarks of the JS...

The Felder Felder sisters are instantly recognisably by their unfeasibly long, unfairly blonde hair. And they’ve always made clothes that work best teamed with a golden mob- little leather jackets, studded shoes, foxy mini dresses. This season they made the connection even more literal, with a collection inspired by Blonde. Soft golden jackets, bronzed leather mini dresses, and prints which...

LFW day 3: Acne
Today’s anticipated finale was hosted by Acne and, like its September’s SS12 presentation, the Swedish label held the event at the Old Sorting Office on New Oxford Street. But in contrast to last year’s show (which featured a room–length runway backed by mirrors for incredible double vision), this year’s models were harder to catch sight of, with the massive space...

LFW day 3: Unique
Unique, Topshop’s high-fashion sister line always draws a big crowd. Today’s presentation at Old Billingsgate was no different with fans of the label, from Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof, Olivia Palermo et al on the front row to brightly dressed fashion students peering down from the standing deck, easily filling up the mammoth show space. We were blessed with a very lucky view indeed...

LFW day 3: Nicole Farhi
Hosted in the grand setting of the Royal Courts of Justice (WC2), Nicole Farhi’s autumn/winter catwalk presentation was attended by shlebs from British actor and all round national treasure Bill Nighy to that cute floppy haired one from Skins cast three, as well as the high court judge of fashion herself. (Wintour watchers take note: a leopard print coat was her winter warmer of...

This season, chaotic print supremos Basso and Brooke smartened up. That meant out with the dainty dresses, and in with sharply-cut suits and reefer tuxes. In any other designer this might have been a turn towards the staid, (and a very sad one, when B&B are one of the few reliably carnivalistic creators on the schedule) but classic shaped shifts and smart coats were given the Basso and Brooke...
