How to do a masculine bun, Roksanda Illincic stylee…
Roksanda Ilincic’s AW12 collection was all about blending masculinity with femininity. The women of the 1940s were a strong inspiration for Ilincic, with the womanly silhouettes of their clothes being married with the need for practicality in their style they stepped up to the working world. Now, here comes the science bit.
To compliment the clothing, the team at Charles Worthington came up with a slick, simple bun that encapsulated the elegance of the clothes with the stiff-upper-lip of the era. Creative Director Marc Trinder talked us through how to get the style at home, calling it “glamour-grungy”. Sort of like Natalie Portman after a spell on the central line in rush hour.
1. Prep the hair using Charles Worthington Results Texturising Messed Up hair spray, spritz it through, and dry it with your fingers.
2. Pop your hair into a ponytail, and then backcomb some internal sections of the pony.
3. Make the pony into a small loop, and then using your hands to shape the bun, tuck the ends round the loop and secure with some long pins.
4. Use some Charles Worthington 4. Front Row High Definition Crackle Wax on the fly away hairs at the front and the hairline to add a good amount of shine.
So now you know….
